Articles of Allegiance

This term refers to the document that sets up basic laws and rights of the citizens of Valnorgrad

History

When our nation was first founded (2006) as the Valnorgrad Confederacy, it was apparent that along with securing our borders and setting up a centralist government a guarantee of certain rights had to be protected to ensure that human liberties would not be infringed upon. Unlike the military governments of other nations,ours always seeks above all else to protect our citizens. This was implemented by the ruling military council commissioning a select group of the citizenry from all walks of life and all territories under the Confederacy.These are very similar to the United States Bill of rights with a few adjustments

SkyMarshal implements Articles as law

Under the Confederacy and the Peoples Republic the articles were established as guidelines for the rights our citizens have, but under the new SkyMarshal, the articles have been signed into law so to ensure that if the articles are broken, consequences will follow.

As of January,23,2011 10:45 a.m. the Articles of Allegiance are hereby signed into law

Articles

The Articles are rights protected by the government of Valnor for its citizens and visitors that have pledged their Allegiance to the flag of Valnor and its government

• 1.All citizens under the flag of Valnor shall have free speech, and demonstrate their opinions freely and without fear or retaliation.
  • 1a.The rights of such speech does not extend to seditious speech against the government.

• 2.All citizens have the right to bear arms. This right is paramount to individual protection.
  • 2a.Enlistment in a regulated militia will be mandatory.
    • 2b.All citizens of Valnor are required to have and maintain a working firearm.

• 3.All citizens are protected from unreasonable search and seizure of property.
  • 3a.Authorities have the right to search with reasonable cause.
    • 3b.Authorities have to have the search approved by the regional commander.
      • 3c.Authorities will be required to log and report all findings in documented form, and will be available to the public.

• 4.All citizens have to right to due process.
  • 4a.A trial by council hearing shall be commissioned.
    • 4b.The council will consist of the highest regional officials.
      • 4c.The decisions will be available for the public.

• 5.All citizens have the right of protection against cruel and unusual punishment.
  • 5a.Cruel and unusual punishment will protect against torture of criminals and offenders, excludes military prisoners and war criminals.
    • 5b.Punishment can be extended to hard labor camps.

• 6.All citizens have the right to petition local military officials with complaints and beyond if needs are not met.

• 7.All citizens will have basic needs provided for by the state.
  • 7a.We will not provide any means of welfare, if you cannot afford basic needs they will be provided in exchange for labor.
    • 7b.This nation will provide basic needs to the elderly for their service to the nation.
      • 7c.Every citizen must have a job and contribute to the community.
        • 7d.The young, if no parent or guardian, shall be cared for by the state in exchange for service at appropriate age.

• 8.All citizens will have protection provided at all times.
  • 8a. The military's 1st standing order is to protect the citizens of this state.

• 9.All citizens have the right to practice the state religions of Christianity,Norse Paganism,Celtic rituals.
  • 9a.Citizens have the right to abstain from practices of religion.
    • 9b.All other religions shall not be permitted in Valnor.
      • 9c.For all non-citizens visiting our country, lenience shall be extended, and practices shall be allowed in private.
        • 9d."Extremism"of religion will not be tolerated.

• 10.All citizens have the right to pursue happiness and a better life for themselves.
  • 10a.That effort if lawful will not be hindered by the state.

• 11.This nation is and will maintain a mono-culturalism.
  • 11a.This is to protect the national security and people.
    • 11b.This measure will protect the national identity.

• 12.Citizens of Valnor must pledge their loyalty to the nation.
  • 12a.All citizens must take an oath of allegiance to the nation and its leader.
    • 12b.Only citizens who have taken the oath of allegiance shall be protected under the articles.
      • 12c.Taking the oath shall be the utmost requirement for citizenship. No person shall become a citizen without pledging allegiance to Valnor.

• 13. All immigrants must assimilate.
  • 13a.Immigrants must take the oath.
    • 13b.Immigrants must leave all means of previous culture behind.
      • 13c.Immigrants must have a means/skill/possessions to benefit the nation to be granted citizenship.
        • 13d.No person that is not a citizen shall be allowed to remain in the nation on a permanent basis.

• 14.If these Articles are infringed upon, the full might of Valnor shall fall upon the offender.

All articles in an a state of emergency can be suspended

This action is not taken lightly and can only be suspended under the condition the SkyMarshal and all Legion Commanders agree to the action. Even after the act has passed, the term can be no longer than a 3 day period at witch time a new vote must be cast to renew the suspension.
